Privacy policy

Last updated 29 October 2026

KOTI holds some of the most personal things a family has. We keep them private, we never sell them, and we don't show you adverts.

Who we are

KOTI is run by Ben Smylie, in Jersey. He is responsible for your information under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, which gives you the same rights as the UK and EU GDPR. Contact: ben@montageconsulting.co.uk.

What we keep

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website, we keep your email address so we can tell you when KOTI is on the App Store. We'll only email you about KOTI, and we'll delete your address once KOTI has launched or whenever you ask us to.

Your calendar

If you switch on calendar prompts, KOTI reads the titles and notes of upcoming events in the calendars you choose, and sends them to our server, which asks Anthropic's Claude AI which ones are family moments and how to word a reminder. Nothing from your calendar is stored by us, and Anthropic does not use it to train its models. You can switch this off at any time in Settings.

Who can see your memories

Only the people in your family that you invite. Not other KOTI users, and not us, except where you ask us for help or we need to keep the service safe and working. If you seal memories until a date, nobody in the family can see them until then.

Companies that help run KOTI

Each only gets what it needs to do its job.

How long we keep things

For as long as your family uses KOTI. If you delete your account (Settings, then Delete my account), your sign-in, profile and settings go straight away. Memories you added to a family that others are in stay with that family; a family with nobody else in it is deleted with everything in it. If a family stops subscribing, KOTI becomes read-only and you can still download everything; we'll write to you before anything is deleted, and delete it after 90 days.

Your rights

You can see, download (Settings, then Download everything), correct or delete your information at any time, and ask us questions about it. Email ben@montageconsulting.co.uk. If you're not happy with our answer you can complain to the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner.

Children

KOTI is for parents and family members aged 18 and over. Children don't use KOTI themselves; their memories are added by the grown-ups who love them.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app first.
